We have to wait a bit: Chip manufacturer announces when the shortage of new cars will end ᐉ News from Fakti.bg – Auto

German semiconductor maker Infineon expects the chip shortage to end in 2023 at the earliest. But more importantly, the first important signs of recovery will be visible later this year. This was reported by AutoEvolution.

Infineon’s head of automotive business, Peter Schiffer, said the company would be able to bring chip production into line next year. This will be supported by the expansion of existing facilities, including a new semiconductor plant in Austria.

Currently, most car manufacturers continue to struggle with the shortage of chips, and many are forced to sell cars without any electronic systems – simply because there are no components to work.

On the other hand, the crisis has forced some leaders in the global automotive industry to change their production strategy – to solve this problem once and for all. For example, Ford and General Motors are investing heavily in the development and production of chips themselves.

Keep in mind that currently the global shortage of chips is still closely linked to the constraints of the coronavirus – increasing the consumption of semiconductors and disrupting logistics supply chains.
