– Dear Labor Party, Center Party, Christian People’s Party, Conservative Party and Progress Party. We have a message for you, shouted a female protester while Mona Fagerås (SV) in the transport and communication committee had the floor during today’s question time.
– The UN’s latest climate report states that we have two to three years to turn the ship around. and give us a chance to reach the climate goals. But the current situation is moving in the direction of three degrees warming, the activists continue.
Storting President Masud Gharahkhani clubbed several times and asked for calm in the hall.
The President of the Storting and several politicians get up and leave the hall without drama, while the demonstrators continue to shout their message.
Must have stuck
The press guard at the Storting confirms to VG that the protesters are stuck in the railing in the gallery.
They are said to have stuck, and the police are working to loosen them.
Operations Manager Sven Christian Lie tells VG that there are about 20 people outside the Storting, and a smaller number inside.
– It goes smoothly, there is dialogue all the way. They have been ordered to leave the hall, if they do not do so they get help from the police to escort them out. Those who do not comply with orders can risk arrest, says Lie.
There is still no one who has complied with the police order around 10:50.
According to the activists, they interrupted the question time to “express fear of the climate crisis and disappointment that the politicians are failing them, and to demand that the politicians listen”, writes Extinction Rebellion in a press release.
– We are young and many of us can not vote. Animals and plants can not vote. Billions of people in the global south cannot vote in Norway. And you kill them with your actions, says Susanne Rude Lone in her appeal, it is said in the press release.
