“We have a case that could turn out to be positive”

The workers of one of the production lines of Bosch Multimédia, in Braga, were dismissed this evening by the administration, on suspicion of one of the elements having contracted the new coronavirus.

MINHO confirmed the information from the dispensation with the director and Bosch representative in Portugal, Carlos Ribas, via telephone, but this did not advance the number of dismissed employees.

According to the official, one of the workers was in “direct and very close” contact with another person, external to the company, who was positive about the Covid-19 disease, leading to preventive measures, on Sunday night, by the company. German.

“We have cases to be analyzed and there is one that could turn out to be positive,” Carlos Ribas said to our newspaper, stating that there is “no confirmed case” at the factory in Braga.

“There is no confirmed but we know that more and less, it will appear, this is inevitable, but at this moment it is not known to us that there is any positive case”.

Regarding a possible stoppage of all production lines, Carlos Ribas says “not being in the administration’s plans” and contradicts rumors that run in the factory. “If the truth were what they say, we already had ten infected,” he said.

“For now, it is not to close the factory, but it is uncertain, one day it may be necessary to do so”, he cautioned.

Regarding the workers who were dismissed, this is a “precaution”. They are advised to remain in quarantine, at least until early Monday morning, when the final results of the worker “at risk” of contracting Covid-19 will be known.

Carlos Ribas also highlighted the “permanent contact” with the General Directorate of Health and with the company’s doctors.

The new coronavirus has already claimed more than 6,400 deaths worldwide.

The number of infected people is around 164 thousand, with cases registered in at least 141 countries and territories, including Portugal, where there are 245 confirmed cases of infection, 76 more than those registered on Saturday.
