PSV won 0-2 against Willem II on Saturday, but things were difficult for the Eindhoven team, especially in the first half. Kristof Aelbrecht, assistant coach of the Tilburg team, thought that his team had too much respect for the reigning national champion.
“It’s a shame that things go wrong in a standard situation,” he says in conversation with Football International on the first goal by PSV player Ricardo Pepi. “That was too easy, he was completely free. That has to do with their quality, but that was also a moment of weakness on our part.”
Before that goal, the Tilburg team had a good position at the back, but it was hardly possible to become dangerous themselves. “I thought we had a little too much respect for PSV. It could and should perhaps be a bit more aggressive. We occasionally entered the duels, but still did not have the ball. Then you cannot make a fist forward.”
