“We’re going to the restaurant” : this is the name of several Facebook groups launched in recent months all over France. Two young people from Poitou had the idea of creating a place where restaurateurs and customers could post the menus of the establishments on a daily basis.
The initiative spread to 200 French towns, including Sens, in Yonne. “The page was created when they realized that the restaurants were communicating on their own and that people did not know which restaurants were open and where they could order”, explains Aurélien Arnoult, one of the moderators of the Senon group, also a former restaurateur. “The basic idea of the creators was to tell themselves that if everything were centralized, we would have a simpler vision as a client. We go to a single page and we know who is proposing what. “

3,000 registered in the Senon group
“We go to the rest – Meaning” was born in November and is very successful after a slow start. It now counts 3,000 registered. “Restaurant owners are relatively satisfied, it gives them additional visibility. They have positive feedback on the page “, continues Aurélien Arnoult. “The best restaurant Facebook pages in Sens have a reach of around 1,000 people, the others 300 or 400. There, there are 3,000 people. “ According to the Senegalese moderator, this also allows restaurateurs to stay in touch with each other and with customers.

In general, Aurélien Arnoult, who knows the subject well since he was himself a restaurateur, confides that the profession’s presence on social networks is not optimal : “In the Senese basin, very few restaurateurs are trained in social networks. They got started a little out of obligation, and especially for a year by force of circumstances with the health crisis. Many have a Facebook page because it is a must, but I think there is a higher step to take. “
