State Secretary: the offer of reception for 100 refugees is in any case
The Netherlands is sticking to the offer to take in 100 vulnerable refugees from Lesbos, even if it appears that few children under the age of 14 can still be found on the Greek island. State Secretary Ankie Broekers-Knol confirmed this today in a debate with the House of Representatives.
SP Member of Parliament Jasper van Dijk wants to know from the cabinet what will happen if not enough children meet those conditions. “Can I keep the State Secretary from being enforced so tightly? That she at least sticks to that number of one hundred? ” Broekers-Knol said he could reassure Van Dijk. One hundred is one hundred. That is it.” She noted, however, that it is first up to the Greeks to accept the offer of help and to select the people who qualify for shelter in the Netherlands.
