Royston Drenthe worked in Real Madrid between 2007 and 2012, where he played alongside such footballers as Guti, Wesley Sneijder, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the Dutch winger never reached their level in his career.
“I often remember the nights I spent with Guti. But it was not an exception that players like Wesley Sneijder, Robinho or Gonzalo Higuain went to the city with us,” he said according to British The Sun Royston Drenthe.
In 2013, the Dutch winger left for the Russian team Alania Vladikavkaz after unconvincing performances in the “white ballet” jersey. However, Royston Drenthe does not have the best memories of his time in Russia:
“Vladikavkaz was definitely not an ideal place to live. It’s a completely ruined city where you can’t have fun, even if you have a lot of money.”

The only positive thing about working in one of the largest Caucasian cities was the salary. The former Real Madrid player said that he would rather forget the six months he spent in Vladikavkaz.
