US President Donald Trump said on Friday he was not seeking “regime change” in Tehran after the elimination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, while warning against “terrorists” who attack the Americans.

Claiming to have acted to “stop” a war, not to start one, he said that Qassem Soleimani was planning “imminent” attacks on diplomats and the US military.
“I have deep respect for the Iranian people,” he added. “We are not looking for a regime change,” said the president, who spoke from his club in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, while on vacation.
