We don’t want Slavia in the Champions League. Midtjylland through the eyes of a former stronghold

Slavia awaits in the fourth preliminary round of the Champions League FC Midtjylland, the current Danish champion. The strengths and style of play of the opponent stitched for Eurofotbal.cz are illustrated by Tim Sparv, a Finnish midfielder who played in the club for six years and played for him last season.

They have clearly mastered the last year of the Danish league and now Slavia is waiting for them. Midtjylland is an opponent that the Trpišovsky boys have to overcome in order to get back into the basic group of the Champions League after a year. Maybe not such a resonant name, you say. But don’t be fooled: the Danish team wants to join the Champions League, it’s in great shape and Slavie isn’t afraid. Larisa’s midfielder Tim Sparv, who kicked off the club for six seasons, explains more about the team.

We can expect how the Danish champions will present themselves in Eden and at home. As always, no change is needed. “They have a clear style of play. Their DNA is an aggressive presink, they also focus more on other situations than other teams,” describes Tim Sparv, who joined the club two months ago. “They run a lot and like it when the game is dynamic. But recently, the team has also evolved from possession of the ball. Thanks to several interesting offensive footballers, the whole game now has a new dimension.”

If you look at the statistics of Midtjylland from the last season of the Danish league, you will be captivated by the low number in the field of collected goals. Good defense, that’s the basis for a Danish master. “They have been strong on the defensive for a long time. In Midtjylland, everyone has to help in the defense, no one is allowed to rest. The overall composition of the defensive line is solid, they have experienced stoppers and goalkeepers who have worked in good leagues abroad.” explains the former midfielder of the club.

Both teams have one thing in common – a young coach. Brian Prisk, who took over the club last season, is forty-three years old. He used to work as an assistant and has a solid playing career. He took over the club as a temporary coach, but has stayed permanently. “Brian Priske has all the prerequisites to be a great coach. He was a good player, which he now transfers to the team management. He is caring and very analytically focused. At the same time he understands the game well, he has self-reflection, he is a good motivator.”

According to the Finnish midfielder, Slavia will be wrinkled and offensive by the Danish team.“Pione Sisto is an offensive threat, who can take care of many goals all by himself, without outside help, from start to finish. But they have more of those weapons.” At the same time, Sparv brings back to the ground those Slavic fans who perceive their opponents from Denmark as an easy lottery and a clear path to the basic Champions League group. In the north, he sees it in exactly the same way.

“I think they’re quite optimistic. I personally see it fifty to fifty. Anyway, it’s a great chance for the club and the opportunity to finally get into the Champions League. I think they have it. They have a good momentum and a lot of players in the staff now, who are at a very high level. “

Whether Slavia or Midtjylland will rejoice will be indicated by the introductory duel, which is hosted by Eden from Vršovice on Tuesday.
