cdo you know the legend of the “boat of Jesus”? This is the somewhat magniloquent name attributed to a fishing boat discovered in the Sea of Galilee (or Lake Tiberias), now majestically exhibited in the museum of Kibbutz Ginosar. It was found by chance in the middle of winter in 1986 by two brothers when Israel was experiencing a period of intense drought and the level of this freshwater lake had dropped dramatically. The 8.3m long boat had been buried in mud and sediment for centuries… After carbon 14 dating, experts expertly stated that the boat, made from twelve different species of wood, was contemporary with Jesus of Nazareth , who lived and preached in Galilee. And that’s how we liked to imagine…
