We do not have good memories of the Czechs, the Danish media warn against the quarterfinals of the Euro

The Danish media warn against Saturday’s quarterfinal match of the European Championship between the Czech Republic and Denmark against underestimation of the Czech national football team. The Danish radio and television station DR reminded on its website that the Danes hit the Czechia twice in the euro – in 2000 and 2004 – and each time lost.

“Truth be told, the Danish memories of the Czechs at the European Championships are not very good. We competed with the Czech Republic twice at the European Championships and we succumbed to it twice,” wrote the public station DR.

The Danish championship did not succeed overall in the Danes. They lost all three matches in the group – with France, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, which according to the CD had one of its best teams in history, and they went home with an unflattering score of 0: 8. At that time, the Czechia played against Denmark with stars such as Pavel Nedvěd, Jan Koller and Vladimír Šmicer, who also scored both Czech goals, the Danish radio and television station reminded.

At the European Championships in 2004, Denmark did better and reached the quarterfinals, but again it came across the Czech team. The Czechs, led by Milan Baroš, won 3: 0 in the match and Baroš contributed two goals to the victory, the DR station wrote.

Before Saturday’s match, the coach of Danish footballers Kasper Hjulmand said that he would rather play with the Netherlands than with the Czech team, which he described as fantastic. According to him, Denmark will face a team for the first time at the championship on Saturday, which will match its intensity.

Hjulmand also pointed out that in Baku, where the match will take place, temperatures reach 30 degrees and that it will be crucial to distribute the forces well. “I think it will be extremely important to have the ball under control as much as possible,” said Hjulmand, according to the Danish agency Ritzau.

The Danish coach believes that he will once again have captain Simon Kjaer at his disposal for the match with the Czech Republic, who had to take turns in the round of 16, in which Denmark crushed Wales 4: 0. “Simon and I are working on it and we all believe he will be ready,” Hjulmand said.

Against Wales, Denmark also had to do without Yussuf Poulsen and Daniel Wass, but they too should make it to the quarterfinals. “I have no reason to think that we will miss anyone in the match against the Czech Republic,” said coach Hjulmand.
