“We distance ourselves from our fans’ banner”

In a long statement from the presidents of Treviso Basket, Matteo Contento, and the UniVerso Treviso Consortium Marco Fabbrinithe two Marca managers distanced themselves from the hateful banner displayed by the home corner, which mocked the 70th anniversary of Trieste‘s return to Italy.

“A public – they wrote in the text which appeared on the club’s official website, referring to the Treviso fans – which has always stood out for its sportsmanship and fairness but which in the last match, with a few small members, expressed through a banner opinions far from those of the Consortium and the company that we have the honor of representing and by whom let’s distance ourselves. Consorzio Universo Treviso and Treviso Basket have always worked for 360° cohesion and integration: this is also playing sport. Treviso Basket and the Universo Treviso Consortium feel obliged to congratulate their opponents and pay homage to the City of Trieste which proudly commemorated the 70th anniversary of its return to Italy”.

A distancing that came two days late but which should still be appreciated. Chapter closed, hopefully.
