Books – Ahmed Gomaa:
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, revealed the situation of the spread of dengue fever in one of the villages of the Qus Center in southern Qena.
Abdel Ghaffar said in statements to Masrawy that the ministry did not record any hospitalized cases or deaths due to dengue fever, stressing the stability of the epidemiological situation in general.
He added: “Most people infected with dengue fever show mild symptoms or no symptoms at all, and their health condition improves within one to two weeks.”
Abdul Ghaffar continued: “We did not observe anyone being hospitalized as a result of dengue infection, but there are some groups that suffer from chronic diseases, for example, and they may develop a fever and be hospitalized, but the cause is not dengue fever itself, but rather the accompanying diseases.”
He explained that the spread of dengue fever is not linked to high or low temperatures in summer or winter, but is linked to the spread of mosquitoes in stagnant water, especially since some citizens resort to water tanks, which causes mosquitoes to transmit and spread the infection.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Health indicated that preventive medicine teams are intensifying their campaigns to eliminate mosquitoes that transmit the disease within Qena Governorate, especially in open water areas, but keeping the tanks used for homes covered is an important practice.
