The shepherd of the Maronite Diocese of Jbeil, Bishop Michel Aoun, visited the activist William Noun at the house of his maternal uncle, Father George Soma, in the town of Blat, Jbeil district, after his release from the State Security Directorate; He was accompanied by a number of diocese priests and the head of the municipality, Abdo Al-Ateeq.
Aoun congratulated Noun and his family on his safe return to his family, relatives, and loved ones, once again calling for “justice to be achieved within respect for laws, to find out who blew up the port of Beirut,” stressing that “our voice will remain loud so that the truth becomes clear.”
He denounced “the assault that Khoury Soma was subjected to yesterday, by members of the Lebanese army, while he was participating in the protest vigil on the Byblos highway,” revealing that “he had received a promise from the army commander to conduct the necessary military investigation, to find out the truth about what happened.” He pointed out that “these words reassure us, because the truth must emerge,” announcing his refusal to “disturb not only the clergy, but every human being, because the human being has his dignity and no one is allowed to attack it.”
