“In general, we see that many people now display a different dating and sex behavior,” said Rutgers and Soa Aids Nederland.
The Dutch have less sex at all, and if we do ‘it’ anyway, more often with a known person than with a stranger.
Half of young people have stopped having sex
To minimize contamination and the spread of corona, it is advisable to only have sex with a steady partner. Many bachelors stick to this by not having sex with others. About half of young people aged 16 to 20 who still had sex with someone before Corona have not had it since the outbreak.
Among adult singles who had sex before corona, a third of men and half of women no longer have sex during the corona crisis.
One in five bachelors (58 percent) did have sex during the corona crisis, but usually with a partner they had sex with before – and not with a one-night stand.
Solosex and a walk
Young people prefer solo sex, a term for masturbation. Young people between the ages of 16 and 20, with a 50% decrease in sex, say that they masturbate an average of 30% more. Young people also watch more porn.
Young people are dating less than before. However, the use of dating apps is increasing, among both young people and adults. Flirting uses online nowadays. But on a first date, most still opt for a date ‘in real life’, although the catering industry is less popular, and now more often a walk is chosen.
Five thousand young people
The survey was conducted in May among 5,218 young people aged 16 to 20 and a panel of 1,506 people aged 18 to 50.
