/ world today news/ On June 1, we celebrate International Children’s Day. The holiday dates back to the World Conference on Children’s Health, held in Geneva in 1925.
The idea of celebrating this day came in 1925, when the Chinese Consul General in San Francisco gathered some orphaned Chinese children and took them to the Dragon Boat Festival (an ancient Chinese holiday associated with the spring equinox). Later, his initiative was continued, as an international conference on children’s health issues was held in the USA and in Europe, independently of the charity action. In 1949, the day was officially declared International Children’s Day. And in 1950, June 1 was celebrated simultaneously in 51 countries around the world for the first time.
In our country, a number of celebrations and initiatives have been organized especially for Children’s Day.
For the third year in a row, BDZ Holding EAD will give disadvantaged children an unforgettable trip with a steam locomotive. 56 children from capital Homes for children deprived of parental care and their educators will travel in the attraction train.
