For four days our students participated in various conferences, book presentations, panels, Q&A Sessions and even a special immersive theater performance.
In this second quarter of 2021, the 11th Edition of the Entertainment Industries Week was held in which we remember the past, celebrate the present and imagine the future. During these days, through the social networks of the Bachelor of Entertainment Business Management (DEEN), we witnessed interesting conferences, book presentations, panels, Q&A Sessions, and a special immersive theater function.
At the beginning of the week the opening ceremony was held, where we had the presence of Mtro. Carlos Cienfuegos Alvarado, director of the Faculty of Communication; Mtra. Giselle Escalante Castillo and Dr. José Luis Lome Serrano, coordinators of the Bachelor of Entertainment Business Administration North and South Campus, respectively; María Reneé Noriega, president of the DEEN Student Society in the North Campus; María Elena Artigas, 6th semester student of the Bachelor of Entertainment Business Management and host, and as a guest of honor we had the presence of Dr. Ernesto Piedras, general director of Nomismae Consulting, who offered the conference “El Homo Telecom y the future of entertainment “.
In addition, during the first day we delved into how the book fairs have overcome confinement and our reference was the most important literature fair in Latin America, that is, the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), through the conference “The challenges of book fairs in the face of the pandemic” given by Marisol Schulz, director of said Fair.
Similarly, the conference “The marketing strategy behind an artist” was given, in which Teresa González de la Concha, deputy director of management at OCESA Seitrack, shared her experience in the field, as well as general recommendations for the University Community interested, in which she highlighted the taste for music, passion, constant innovation, attention to detail, in addition to familiarizing herself with the times and the search for opportunities.
The second day started with the conference “Tracing the future of culture in LATAM through reading”, in which we had the participation of Roberto Banchik Rothschild, general director in Mexico and Central America of Penguin Random House, who spoke about the panorama of the publishing industry in Latin America.
Subsequently, the presentation of the book The formula: despacito was carried out. The hits of Latin music told by its artists, where the students of the BA in DEEN, Valeria Joaly López Guzmán and Vanessa Arroyo Corona established a dialogue with Leila Cobo, author of the book and vice president of Billboard.
To conclude the second day, there was the participation of Armando Uría, Director of Entertainment of Grupo Vidanta, who gave the conference “Entertainment as a tourist attraction”, where he spoke about trends and new projects that are in the centers tourist entertainment.
The third day of activities began with the presentation of the book Oro de Rey by the authors Javier León Herrera and Juan Manuel Navarro, who shared the long road they have traveled to create this work and began a dialogue with our 1st year students. semester of the Bachelor of Entertainment Business Management, Santiago Castro Alonso and Julien Langle Arceo.
Subsequently, Annette Fradera, producer and musical supervisor for film and theater, shared the importance of the subject within the creation and publication of content, as well as her experiences developing the work of musical supervision during the conference “What is musical supervision?” .
To conclude our third day, we had the participation of Dany Saadia, founder and CEO of DIXO, who gave the conference “The boom of podcasting on web 3.0. Dixo case”.
To begin the fourth day, we had the assistance of Sergio Scarpett Romo, partner and founder of Make It Prensa, and Lic. Alejandra Manzur García Maass (DEEN, gen. ’10), marketing coordinator of said company, who gave the conference “How to Manage a Celebrity’s Career”.
During the presentation “How to manage music talent. Case: Cinq Music”, we had the participation of Diana Schweinbeck, head of marketing in the USA in LATAM at Cinq Music, and Lic. Idaly Molina Márquez (Communication, gen. ’18) , marketing manager LATAM.
In addition, as part of the week’s activities, students, teachers and family members had the opportunity to attend the special function of the Blindness play, the first immersive play designed with social distance. Prior to the show, Rosalía Campillo, stage manager, and Miguel Jiménez, audio designer, shared their experience working on this great staging.
To end the fourth day, a Q&A Session was held with Milky Chance, a folk / rock musical group composed of Clemens Rehbein and Philipp Dausch.
The fifth and final day began with the participation of Víctor Hugo Cebreros López, creative deputy director; Mauricio Olivera Gasca, commercial director; Iván Urcid Ortiz (Communication, gen. ’15), creative specialist, all members of CIE Special Events, who gave the panel “Creativity beyond immersive experiences”.
Within the framework of this event, we also had the opportunity to meet Ana del Real, a virtual woman capable of speaking, holding conversations and even singing, thanks to Erick Hans Guevara, CEO and co-founder of Eugenia, who spoke to us during the conference “Virtual influencers: the future of social media”.
To close the XI Week of the Entertainment Industries, we had the presence of the singer-songwriter Ximena Sariñana, who shared her experiences since she began her career in the music industry.
This week was definitely a demonstration of what can be achieved with creativity, effort, collaboration and a desire to learn, even when the situation and context are not in our favor.
