It has been nine days since the president of the Medical Chamber Milan Kubek sent a letter to former Minister of Health Roman Prymul (for the YES movement).
–
He wrote that some Czech doctors were ready to return from abroad and help in domestic hospitals due to the increase in the number of patients with a new type of coronavirus.
–
At the same time, however, Kubek stated that there is not much interest in about twenty-five doctors working in France or Germany.
–
According to Kubek, the hospitals where they wanted to help do not know how to deal with doctors’ requests. And so Kubek wanted Prymula to start resolving the situation, and the ministry granted them the status of a so-called guest person, without whom they could not work legally in the Czech Republic.
–
On Thursday, Kubek told the News List that they had not received a reply to the letter to the minister.
–
“The doctors who contacted us complain a bit that the Ministry of Health does not communicate with them. They need legal and financial guarantees, they need a certificate for their current employer, “said Kubek.
–
“It simply came to our notice then. Maybe it’s my fault that I didn’t first consult with the ministry about whether it was interested in such paramedics, “he added.
–
Doctors offered their help at a time when dozens of Czech hospitals announced that they lacked staff. And they asked volunteers to help them.
–
In addition, these days, according to the Medical Chamber, thousands of healthcare professionals become infected with coronavirus every day. There were over 13,000 of them last weekend, of which 2,582 were doctors.
–
Jan Brodský, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, wrote that they do not complicate the deployment of Czech doctors. “For the time being, the Ministry of Health does not show any greater interest in the status of the so-called guest person,” he added.
–
However, Deputy Minister Aleksi Šedo has not yet answered the question why the ministry did not respond to Kubek’s letter and why it did not grant doctors the necessary status.
–
After the arrival of the new Minister of Health Jan Blatný, the situation could shift. He stated at the first press conference that he had worked abroad for several years. “I know you will never forget where you came from,” Blatny said. “I believe that those who will listen to Mr Kubek’s call can and will certainly help here,” he added.
–
According to Kubek, doctors need the above-mentioned permit as insurance in the event that they make a professional mistake in the treatment of the Czech Republic, or if they become infected with coronavirus.
–
“We cannot expect them to come here illegally, illegally on a brigade. It is not possible. Only the Ministry of Health has the competence to do so, “Kubek added.
