After an exchange of statements between the Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohá, and The mayor of La Florida, Rodolfo Carter, this afternoon the communal leader again lashed out against the Secretary of State due to the announced resources for security and the transparency regarding the number of police officers deployed in the commune.
Carter, in the anteroom, pointed out that “We have serious doubts that this plan is currently politically oriented to defending communities that this government is interested in promoting in the upcoming municipal elections.”
In this context, during the morning, the chief of staff responded to questions raised by Carter regarding the deployment announced within the framework of the second stage of the Street Without Violence plan and which included modifications in police operations with the so-called “swarm” deployments.
“We had a meeting with all the mayors of the Metropolitan Region, where the Carabineros authorities presented the plan. The plan is to distribute these additional teams in 192 grids located in the 52 municipalities of the Metropolitan Region, without exception.“He said, dismissing Carter’s suggestion, during an activity in La Granja.
