Every company is accompanied by a sponsor company and every manager is supported by experienced sponsors from their field of activity in order to learn from each other.
Do only the executives have godparents?
The focus is on the executives, who then develop the new location into a Globus market hall together with their sponsors and other supporters from across the company.
How do you put the market teams together?
We are trying to get experienced Globus employees excited about the new operations, and that has worked at a number of locations. Since we needed more people in most of the companies we took over than would come to us as a result of the transfer of business, there is a mixture of former Real colleagues, Globus colleagues and new hires from other companies.
What is the biggest challenge with integration?
The unlearning and relearning. If you have worked at Real for many years, sometimes 20, 30 or even 40 years, then you are practiced, tried and tested in many areas. That won’t change overnight and certainly not very quickly. It takes time and experienced Globus companions who support this path of change and always offer new colleagues new points of contact so that they can connect with Globus.
What do Real employees particularly like about Globus? And which of their skills does Globus benefit from?
Some of the employees at Real have been networked in retail and at the location for many years. They know what the customer expects from them. With their experience, both professional and personal, they can contribute well from the start and provide customers with a great shopping experience. This is essential and very important for the success of our market halls. Real employees like the fact that we make every effort to look after them, to accompany and support them. Many confirm a feeling that they have had in the past, namely to focus on the customer and to do everything to ensure that they like to do their shopping with us.
