The lava from the La Palma volcano continues its slow advance towards the coast and as it passes it continues to destroy everything it finds on its way. The next ‘obstacle’ in the path of the volcano’s magma is the town of Todoque, which is about to be engulfed by lava.
In the Todoque area there is a team of journalists from Cadena SER who have experienced the arrival of the magma directly, which is currently less than 50 meters from the neighborhood, which has been completely evacuated due to the proximity of the volcanic remains.
“We are right in the middle of the road. We are the last people who are going to see this town standing because it will disappear in a few minutes,” Radio Club Tenerife journalist Javier Rodríguez reported live on ‘La Ventana’ this Tuesday.
“The restaurant, the small window of electrical appliances, the church probably, the school … This town of 1,400 people is now a ghost town. It has been evicted for a long time except for the military and civil protection removing items that can be recoverable. .. “, narrated the journalist.
The image of that area is that of a ghost town in which there is no life beyond some plants and in which you can no longer see a single animal: “Next to me there is a laurel that must be 150 years old and that in the next few minutes will come to an end. The lava engulfs, swallows and makes the town of Todoque disappear very slowly, “explained Javier Rodríguez from the area.
