The ministerial meeting in Italy was attended by Alexander Yotsev, Krasimir Koev and Yordan Chorbadjiyski

“Bulgarian winemakers combine the historical traditions that we have with the new modern technologies and create wines with unique qualities that worthily represent our country on international markets. They are extremely attractive to the discerning taste of consumers.” This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Alexander Yotsev in his speech during the Ministerial Meeting of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) in the city of Brescia, Italy. The meeting is held on occasion The 100th anniversary since the creation of the organization and 31 countries from Europe, Asia, South America, Africa and New Zealand participate in it.

Deputy Minister Yotsev, who leads the Bulgarian delegation, recalled during the official session that Bulgaria is located in a strategic place between Asia and Europe, where old and new wine roads cross, and here the experience and traditions of winegrowers have been passed down for generations and winemakers. He emphasized that our country has a rich gene pool, in which there are old local varieties with a unique aroma and taste and classic, high-quality and disease- and pest-resistant varieties that make our wine list diverse and attractive.

Deputy Minister Yotsev emphasized that over the years our country has maintained extremely active cooperation with the International Organization of Vine and Wine (HIV), with which the Ministry of Agriculture and Food signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2020.

The forum was chaired by the President of the International Organization of Vine and Wine Luigi Moio, as well as the Director General of the organization Dr. John Barker. From the Bulgarian side, Eng. Krasimir Koev, executive director of the Executive Agency for Vine and Wine, and Yordan Chorbadzhiyski, chairman of the National Viticulture and Winery Chamber, are taking part, as the informal host of the meeting is the Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Forestry of the Italian Republic Francesco Lollobrigida.

As part of the official program on the second day of the Ministerial meeting, a visit to the Pavilion of the Ministry of Agriculture of Italy at the VinItaly exhibition in the city of Verona is planned.

The event was held in one of the regions of Italy, which is distinguished by its rich traditions in wine production, and good practices were also demonstrated to the delegates.
