We are not fed, ma’am

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Several phone calls from the army Russia which was successfully intercepted by Ukraine reveals the plight of battlefield personnel who lack logistics to the point of starvation.

A telephone conversation by a Russian soldier named Andrey on Nov. 8 explained that some of President Vladimir Putin’s troops were starving because they had not received food while on duty in the war zone.

The soldier serving in Lyman, Ukraine, decided he no longer wanted to listen to his commander’s orders after the soldiers didn’t get what they needed. Eventually he called his mother to complain about his condition while he was on front line guard in the area.

“Nobody feeds us, mom,” Andrey said on the phone with his mother.

“Honestly, our supplies are very scarce. We draw water from puddles and then filter it for drinking,” he said. The Guardian.

The five-minute, 26-second recording of the call also reveals Andrey’s doubts about the current war situation in Ukraine.

He said the weapons Putin promised to deploy in Ukraine were meaningless. Russian troops could not launch any offensive there.

“Where are the missiles that Putin is so proud of? There is a tall building right in front of us. But our army can’t hit it. We need a Caliber cruise missile,” he said.

Another sad condition was also revealed by a phone call made between a father named Andrei and his son’s friend who was killed on duty.

“There are no reinforcements or communications,” one soldier replied when answering Andrei’s phone call on 6 November.

“They said we weren’t allowed to withdraw. If we withdraw, we could be shot,” he said again.
