Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini spoke from the stage of the pro-Israel demonstration ‘For the defense of the West and freedoms’ organized by the League in Milan. “They told us not to organize this demonstration. ‘You’re right but don’t go and say it’. This square is the demonstration that we are not afraid and fear is the first result that terrorists bring home. Someone has been holding the Palestinian people hostage for decades. On the heads of Palestine, out of Hamas from Palestine and the West, out of those who finance terrorists, even in Italy, they disgust me. Anti-Semitism is a virulent plague, it is a cancer. I think we must face the problem with seriousness and determination at home too” the words of the Minister of Infrastructure.
In the conclusion of his speech from the stage of the event Salvini thanked “from the bottom of his heart” the people who participated in the demonstration, together with the ministers Alessandra Locatelli (disability), Roberto Calderoli (Regional Affairs), Giuseppe Valditara (Education) and Giancarlo Giorgetti (Economy), to the governors Attilio Fontana (Lombardy), Luca Zaia (Veneto) and Massimiliano Fedriga (Friuli Venezia Giulia) and to the president of the autonomous province of Trento Massimo Fugatti. “This is not the square of hate, these women and men are here to unite and make peace. And I am sure that the vast majority of Italians watching you on TV tonight will say ‘well done, they are right to ask for respect'”, Salvini said again, speaking of the “famous silent majority that says enough with Islamic extremisms, which are not necessarily those that they cut their throats, they are those for whom another reasoning prevails over Italian law”. Finally, the deputy prime minister quoted Paolo Borsellino: “He who is afraid dies every day, he who is not afraid dies only once” and underlined that “Italy, the West and democracy cannot be afraid”.
