We are not a laboratory, but we reprimanded the worker for the veil under her nose, the post office responds

Although representatives of the Czech Post claim that they try to follow all hygienic principles when packing drapes and respirators for the elderly, Czech Television filmed a worker with an exposed nose when packing. “We solved it by reprimanding. We are not a laboratory, but a logistics company,” responds post office spokesman Matyáš Vitík.

The post office deployed a large number of workers over the weekend to pack and deliver a total of three million envelopes as soon as possible. Each contains five drapes and one respirator. The state sends them to people over 60 two weeks before the election.

“Workers should observe hygienic principles when packing drapes, among other things they should have a veil on their mouth and nose,” says Michaela Bažantová, a spokeswoman for the Czech Chamber of Pharmacists. However, one of the post office workers who packed the envelopes in the central sorting room in Prague-Malešice did not have a veil on her nose. The situation was accidentally captured by Czech Television in a report on the preparation of shipments. Improperly fitted drapes were noticed by some spectators, who immediately pointed out the incriminated shot.

Czech Post spokesman Matyáš Vitík admitted that the woman did not really have the veil properly. “I saw it. We solve such mistakes by agreement,” he told Aktuálně.cz. He claims that similar cases cannot be prevented. “Unfortunately, it can happen, we all know it from everyday wear of veils. Coincidentally, it was filmed by a camera,” he said.

According to him, however, this happens only exceptionally. “But it’s not the case that happens often. We try to follow all hygiene measures, but we are not a laboratory, we are a logistics company. That means we work in the conditions in which we work. We do our best, “defends the Czech Post Vitík.

According to him, all the rooms were disinfected before inserting the veils and respirators into the envelopes. “And we strive to ensure that all our workers have protective gloves and masks and use disinfection,” he said.

From the point of view of the packaging itself, it is clear that people do not get veils completely sterilized at home, because the post office always received veils in packages of fifty pieces. Workers therefore open the packages and then insert five unwrapped drapes into each envelope, plus a respirator that comes packaged from the manufacturer.

It is not possible to breathe on drapes

“A completely sterile environment cannot be ensured, because the veils must be removed from the packages. Nobody buys the whole package with fifty pieces,” said Michaela Bažantová, a spokeswoman for the Chamber of Pharmacists, for Aktuálně.cz. However, she emphasized that it was very important to follow hygienic principles. “It is not possible to have an exposed nose or mouth and breathe on drapes,” she said in connection with the mentioned post office worker.

According to the spokesperson, everyone who puts on the veil should follow the exact procedure. “The veil should be held on the nose, its lower part is pulled under the chin and the nose needs to adjust the wire that is in one edge of the veil. The veil must be pressed all the way to the root of the nose. , but to the sides, because the droplets are captured in front, “described a representative of the Pharmacy Chamber.

At the same time, Pheasant recommended that people hold the veils best only by rubber bands. “It’s also necessary not to alternate between the outer and inner part of the veil, which are intentionally different. People should definitely not touch the front of the veil, because other people’s droplets stick in those places. So even when removing the veil they take it by the ear, and then put the veil down, “she added.

Most of the veils and respirators have already been packaged by Česká pošta and it now prints address labels. From Tuesday, he will start sending them to the postmen, who will deliver them. “The delivery will start from Tuesday and will continue until Friday, when all the above should have the shipment in the mailbox, at their permanent residence. If this is not the case, they can visit the post office, where they will receive a replacement envelope with respiratory protective equipment, “announced Ivo Vysoudil from the Czech Post.

According to the Minister of the Interior Jan Hamáček, the price of one sent respirator is approximately 2.35 dollars (about 53 crowns) and a veil 37 cents (about 8.30 crowns). The package for one senior thus costs about 94 crowns. Delivery should come to 15 million crowns.
