“We are living buzzard season”: López Obrador asked not to look at what other countries are doing against coronavirus

The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador criticized the position of his adversaries, including the “yellow press”, who, he says, “want to count the dead, we are living buzzard season.”

– –

“The yellow press wants us to say how many dead, our adversaries who still do not help, I saw a message from a journalist asking to know how many dead there are going to be. This makes me think and it is possible to say that we are living in the vulture season, hopefully that attitude changes and that we do not care what they are doing in other countries“He clarified.

– –

He explained that the country is living its own process in this health crisis unlike other nations that are also going through the health emergency and the necessary measures are being taken to care for the seriously infected, because he warned that the critical stage of infection is beginning.

– –

“To tell those who listen to us that we are preparing to face the epidemic at the worst moment, this is having hospitals, beds, equipment to care for the sick. We are dedicated full time, that is the priority of the government at the moment, “he said.

López Obrador assured that the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) is a transitory crisis for Mexico and that it will soon come to fruition, as he said, there are more strengths than weaknesses of the Mexican people.

– –

“I want to give confidence and security to the people of Mexico that this is a temporary situation. If we wanted to be deeper, I would say a transitory crisis in public health, including the economic one,” he said.

– –

He reiterated that the pandemic of the coronavirus “is not a debacle” for the country, and that there are more strengths than weaknesses of the people of Mexico.

– –

“This means that we are going to leave soon, that it is not a debacle, that our strengths are much more than weaknesses. It is a lot of people, a lot of culture that of the people of Mexico As if not being able to face this adversity, the people are a lot of pieces, they are extraordinary, the greatness of Mexico is undoubted. ”

The Mexican president explained that his administration is preparing for the worst stage of the COVID-19 situation in Mexico.

– –

“The measures established to prevent further contagion are being carried out, people are behaving at 100. They are a conscious people, they are not an irresponsible, indolent people … Tell them that we are preparing to face the epidemic at the worst time , this is having hospitals, beds, equipment to care for the sick. We are dedicated full time, that is the government’s priority right now (…) We have projections of what is needed, we are doing well in that purpose ”, isaid the president.

The entire government is dedicated to ensuring that beds, fans, medical equipment and basic materials are required to care for COVID-19 patients, López Obrador said.

– –

“Prepare ourselves so that we do not lack beds, fans, and we can take care of the seriously infected. We have projections of what is needed, we are doing well in that purpose. ”

– –

López Obrador also said that It will be seen by all and that there is no “going into debt to the country, nor are we going to give rise to corruption, because in times of crisis the situation worsened.”

– –

He argued that the “fundamental” to face the crisis is that Mexico is “A hard-working, good and supportive people”. He also said that the government is prepared “to have the beds and equipment that are required” in hospitals.

– –

He also promised that there will be no layoffs of state workers, but that the salaries of senior officials will be lowered and the austerity plan of the public administration will be deepened.

– –

“There can be no rich government with poor government. We have to set an example ”, López Obrador said.

– –

“We are going to come out of this very strengthened because in moments of crisis it is when convictions are also being strengthened,” said the president, who recalled that the main objective of his government is to end “the regime of injustice and corruption” that existed in the country.

– –

Last Monday, the General Health Council, the highest health authority in Mexico, decided to extend until April 30 the suspension of public, private and social activities to mitigate the expansion of the coronavirus.

– –

The activities of the health system, public security and citizen protection, those necessary to maintain the country’s critical infrastructure, the government’s social programs and commercial activities of the industry, remain essential.
