Huila requires urgent measures to address the insecurity crisis, marked by the increase in crime, extortion, rustling and other criminal expressions, as expressed by the congressman.
Senator Carlos Julio González Villa made an urgent call to the National Government and the authorities to implement forceful actions in order to mitigate the critical situation of insecurity that is occurring in the department of Huila.
“We have been a reference point for insecurity for many decades, with what this entails and with all the expressions of violence and the consequences that the country knows. And today, unfortunately, it seems that history is once again repeating itself and plotting itself against us. “We are facing a flagrant deterioration of security in my department,” he expressed in the Senate plenary session.
During his speech, the congressman revealed an alarming increase in the crimes of extortion and theft, as well as problems related to citizen security.
“We received numerous reports, testimonies and citizen complaints that indicate the alarming increase in crimes such as extortion by 30%, or theft by 24%, homicides and the immense difficulties related to citizen security in various areas of the department and in practically all regions of our territory,” he indicated.
Given the deterioration of security in this region of the country, Senator González Villa requested urgent attention and measures from the Ministry of Defense, Police and National Army to safeguard the life, honor and property of the people of Huila.
“What are the measures that are and will be adopted, the action plans, their execution processes, their times and chronology?, and, most importantly, the decision not to allow this undiscovered paradise to deteriorate and what This means for a department that does not deserve to suffer another 50 years with the history it has already experienced,” he said.
González Villa emphasized the need to implement a public security policy that is in line with the development plan.
“The department is going to slow down if we do not manage to implement a public security policy that coincides with the development plan that we approved, with the investments we want and with the effort that governors and leaders of our territory are making,” he pointed out.
