The GEV expands the insurance cover in household contents and personal liability insurance for refugees who are given shelter by insured persons.
Our contribution in the current emergency situation
The daily news and horrific images of the war in Ukraine shock us deeply. We cannot imagine the suffering of the people who fear for their lives, lose family members and friends and leave their homes behind. The European Union has decided to take in the refugees unbureaucratically and we would also like to make a contribution to this.
As GEV insurance, the protection of your home is our special concern. Losing this home is a drastic life change that is difficult to process.
In order to make a contribution to people in need, we have decided to provide unbureaucratic help within the scope of our possibilities: We extend the insurance cover to household contents and personal liability insurance for our GEV policyholders who take refugees into their home free of charge or provide them with free accommodation.
The co-insurance of the household effects and the personal liability risk of those seeking protection is now included in the agreed scope of cover without an additional contribution via the corresponding GEV insurance policies. In the case of personal liability insurance, the extension applies to all refugees admitted, regardless of the type of tariff (single, couple, single with child, family). Dogs brought along are also insured through our existing dog owner liability insurance.
The extended coverage applies to all refugees regardless of their nationality or origin and is initially limited until December 31, 2022. The insurance cover begins when the people seeking protection are admitted to the household of our GEV customers. If the accommodation ends before December 31, 2022, the insurance cover ends on this date. Proof is not required.
Our employees are of course also available to answer any questions you may have about extending your insurance cover.
