Yesterday Veronica Inside was back with Genee, Van der Gijp and Derksen. And immediately it started well: Derksen fulminated against the increasing billing culture in the Netherlands. If you say something on television that certain people don’t like, then this group of people will try to get you off the TV immediately. According to Derksen, this is extremely worrying.
Derksen takes himself as an example: he has been called out for everything; homophobic, racist, you name it. Time and again they try to get him off the TV, luckily unsuccessful so far. But at some point you don’t feel like it anymore, as long as people are constantly trying to remove you from something.

Derksen is quite right in his short speech, the accounting culture in the Netherlands has gone too far. It is also crazy to think that run-down celebrities like Boomsma can get advertisers to withdraw.

In the long term, the settlement culture will ensure that many people no longer dare to speak up for their own opinion. The thought police that Theo van Gogh used to talk about unfortunately seems to become reality.

Self-censorship is almost becoming the norm in this way, because you think three times before expressing a potentially politically incorrect opinion.
