Cloud computing services continue to grow rapidly around the world. It is estimated that more than 90% of Internet traffic will be handled by cloud computing centers. Most companies are already using this technology in their business. As cloud computing grows in popularity, consumer concerns will increase, as business market research reveals that data security and privacy are the biggest concerns. However, the cloud ecosystem is one of the focal points of a modern enterprise. Experts agree that a timely and correct audit of the system used helps to prevent these and other threats.

Companies are reviewing their cloud systems

There seems to be no doubt that sooner or later most of the data from the physical data centers will be moved to the cloud. The popularity of this technology has been growing year by year since its introduction, and experts believe that the ceiling is far from being reached.

It is estimated that next year cloud computing centers will handle 94% of all Internet traffic and that in 2023 the total value of the industry will reach 623 billion US dollars. In 2018, its value was “only” 272 billion, reports Reporter Link.

To adapt to market changes, companies are paying special attention today to moving data to the cloud. According to research companies 451 Research data, more than 90% of companies use or plan to start using cloud services. So the question is not whether we will move to the cloud, but when.

For this reason, companies are concerned not only about data transfer, but also about properly evaluating the effectiveness of cloud platforms. It helps to identify potential threats in a timely manner and to find solutions for effective action.

This is especially important for users, as research shows that companies have serious concerns about the privacy and security of information in the cloud. The aim is therefore to ensure high quality data protection by all possible means to establish such a system and its governance principles. Almost half of the surveyed companies expect significant cost reduction and optimization in the field of cloud computing services. That is why companies today are investing more and more resources in a detailed analysis of the ecosystem they use.

What does such an analysis involve?

Ecosystem audits typically cover five areas: quality of service, safety, reliability, efficiency and optimal cost management. It identifies best practices for using the cloud computing ecosystem and suggests further steps to optimize business costs.

In addition, the report helps companies better evaluate the performance of the system and thus improve the use of the data cloud in a particular business over time. It also assesses potential risks and suggests how best to address them.

This performance audit was recently performed by a Finnish legal and health technology company Citrus Solutions. It inherited Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud from another company after its acquisition, but did not know how to further effectively develop the ecosystem. It was therefore hoped that the audit would find the best tools to help reduce costs, automate processes and improve DevOps general use of tools in the AWS environment. A well-designed AWS review offered the company a risk mitigation strategy and specific measures to create a coherent framework to help quickly deploy applications to the cloud.

Systems review: what to expect in the future?

The cloud computing market is likely to continue to grow steadily, and of course the popularity of cloud computing will increase at the same time. Organizations around the world plan to invest more and more in it and move as many processes as possible to the cloud. In turn, companies that are already doing so will seek to review existing systems and streamline their operations.

Presumably, the most popular service will still be software in the cloud like SaaS (Software as a Service) service. According to global research companies Gartner According to the data, in 2021 the turnover of this service provider will reach 113 billion US dollars. IaaS will also be offered (Infrastructure as a Service) un PaaS (Platform as a Service) services. It is unlikely that there will be a change in the popularity of the top three.

The most popular cloud provider will still be Amazon Web Services. AWS occupies about 35% of the cloud computing market, and revenue from these services reaches 13% of the huge Amazon total revenue.

Cloud computing statistics also show that small and medium-sized businesses’ spending on public clouds is growing three times faster than spending on private cloud solutions. Therefore, this gap is only expected to widen in the long run.
