On the last weekend in September, more than 22,000 sci-fi fans were reunited at the science fiction meeting in the Speyer Technology Museum.
We were also represented with a stand including a tombola for the German Leukemia Research Aid Campaign for Children with Cancer Mannheim eV and our photo wall. We talked to many visitors and were happy to take photos. Children and adults also wanted signatures from their heroes of the rebellion at the “autograph sessions”.
A special highlight was the sci-fi show on both days at the opening and at lunchtime, which we performed together with members of the 501st Legion German Garrison and the Mandalorian Roughnecks. Here our Commanding Officer Karsten took on responsibility as “director” for the third time, after previously writing the script and editing sound files with music and speech. Hans-Georg Panczak, Jan Makino, Wolfgang Pampel and Martin Kessler were again recruited for the speaking roles for the “old” and “young” Luke Skywalker, for the “old” Han Solo and for the clones as well as Jango Fett.
The audience received the piece “Light and Shadow” very well and we were a unit, regardless of club affiliation. There was a great team spirit and we presented a good image to the outside world. The quote from an “actor”, Matthias, “We are all Star Wars!” describes our solidarity very well.
At the parade on both days, visitors were able to see everyone in costume.
