The Union Ivkoni bus companies, in an open letter circulating on social networks, erupted because they were subjected to inspections by the state. According to them, this is repression. Transpect AD, which owns the Union Ivkoni trademarks “and” Group Plus “is under revision by the National Revenue Agency.
Here is their open letter.
Dear travelers, we apologize to those of you who have chosen to travel with us since 10 May because you are witnessing the monstrous repression against us. The real reason for these actions is that we are one of the organizers of the National Protest of the United Transport Industry. We have dared to fight against high fuel prices, rising inflation and inadequate transport policy in the country. And now we are generously rewarded for this by acts that are written per kilogram for lack of enough wiper fluid and an inconsistent clock, and by hundreds of hours of accumulated delays on regular bus lines.
We are protesting because we know that you, the passengers, cannot afford a higher ticket price than you are currently paying, because you do not have to choose between having bread on the table or going to work by public transport. We know they want to make us criminals, but you’ve known us for 30 years.
These inspections and repressive methods do not frighten us. We are the most inspected company in Bulgaria and we do not have a single serious violation confirmed by the court, as will happen now. We hope that the inspirer of the inspection order (Minister Sabev on May 12 in the National Assembly himself admitted that he ordered them) will be able to explain to all of you how many of the alleged companies were inspected for the period and by what criteria the three companies of terror in recent days.
The company “Transpect” AD, which is the owner of the trademarks “Union Ivkoni” and “Group Plus”, is audited by the National Revenue Agency. to invade the offices of Union Ivkoni and Group Plus in order to put an end to the repression.
When we acquired Union Ivkoni and Group Plus in 2019, we took on huge debts and risks, driven by the desire to stay and live in Bulgaria. We never imagined that there would come a time when business would be purposefully killed. Times our fathers told us about. We are not and have never been politically engaged. It is inexplicable for us on what line we are accused of being supporters of a certain political party. But obviously this is the fulcrum on which the attack on us and the whole industry is built. We thank all our colleagues for being firmly behind us, and we will be behind each of them. We are grateful for the fact that the prosecutor’s office and the European institutions have already signaled about the arbitrariness that is taking place in Bulgaria, and we sincerely hope that the competent authorities will finish their work.
We are convinced of our rights. We will never hand over our passengers or the transport industry, of which we have been a part for 30 years. We will neither be afraid nor give up. We will defend our demands to the end. We will continue until our paths diverge with the Minister of Transport. A second round is coming up.
