The government called for a “blast of vaccinations” on Friday 9 December as the holidays fast approaching. But who can get vaccinated? From who ? Explanations.
“I solemnly ask for a leap in vaccination“, said François Braun on Friday 9 December. The health minister cited a “serious situation“as the end-of-year celebrations approach and less than three million French people have received a booster shot since the launch of the latest booster campaign in early October.”This is much less than our European neighbors“, underlined the minister.
It must be said that the conditions for accessing the fifth dose, or third booster, remain relatively unclear. “We need to be able to vaccinate everyone, but the instructions are not necessarily very clear“, complained last week Pierre-Olivier Variot, president of the Union of Pharmacists’ Unions (USPO) and practitioner in Plombières-lès-Dijon (Côte-d’Or). “We need to have clear writing.“In the absence of such a document, France 3 Bourgogne answers any questions you may have about vaccination against Covid-19.
According to the latest guidelines of the Ministry of Health, different categories of people are affected by the fall recall campaign. These are, in detail, the so-called “fragile” populations:
- residents of nursing homes and long-term care units
- immunocompromised people (from 12 years)
- people aged 60 or over
- people who can develop severe forms of the disease (from the age of 12), i.e. with comorbidities or pregnant women
- the entourage of “fragile” people.
However, the Health Minister said on 9 December on BFMTV and RMC that “everyone can get vaccinatedFor her part, the president of the committee for monitoring and anticipating health risks (Covars) Brigitte Autrans assured him on franceinfo: “A recommendation is not a ban for others. Then the entire population can be vaccinated.“
This new dose is usually available six months after the last injection. However, three categories of people can access it from three months onwards: people aged 80 or over, the immunocompromised as well as residents of nursing homes or long-term care.
Notifying your department about the government website, find all the vaccination points near you. Several healthcare professionals can then inject you with the serum, in this case:
- your attending physician
- pharmacists
- nurses or midwives
- dental surgeons
According to state data, more than 92% of French adults are fully vaccinated.
