Well, in the late 1980s, a scientist of the NASA, Bill Wolverton, conducted a study that demonstrated how many plants are capable of neutralizing the polluting organic substances found within our domestic environments.

Anthurium, potos and gerbera

L’anturio. This is a plant that needs to be exposed to light and watered regularly. It cleanses the air of ammonia, which is present in many household cleaners and which can be toxic to the lungs.

Sanseveria. Better known as “mother-in-law’s tongue”, sanseveria is one of the most used and effective indoor plants to purify the air. It doesn’t necessarily require a lot of light to survive. In addition, it has the characteristic of filtering formaldehyde and removing the flame retardants found in new homes or newly manufactured furniture.

The dracena. This is a plant that doesn’t require a lot of light to care for. It absorbs substances such as trichlorethylene and xylene found in lacquers, oils and paints.

The ivy. It is a plant that purifies the nitrogen dioxide emanating from appliances that heat with the use of wood, gas and kerosene. Furthermore, it also eliminates the dispersions deriving from gas stoves and fine dust. Then, it is easy to keep as it does not require special care.

The tillancy. It is a useful plant for those who work in constant contact with television screens or computers. In fact, it acts against electrostatic charges.
