Finally, the full lineup emerged Pegasus Commission of Inquiry. He will be its head Magdalena Sroka (Poland 2050). The rank of her deputies will include: Marcin Bosacki (IS), Paweł Śliz (Poland 2050), Tomasz Trela (Left) and Przemysław Wipler (Confederation).
According to the first unofficial reports, Marcin Przydacz was also supposed to be the deputy head of the commission. Ultimately, his candidacy was unsuccessful.
They will also be members of the committee Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska i Witold Zembaczyński from the club Civic Coalitionand Mariusz Gosek, Marcin Przydacz, Jacek Ozdoba i Sebastian Łukaszewicz z PiS.
The Parliament established an investigative commission for operational and reconnaissance activities using Pegasus last Wednesday. However, the composition has not been selected, because the Presidium of the Sejm decided that the PiS club should appoint new candidates to this committee due to reservations about the already submitted ones: Sebastian Kaleta, Michał Wójcik, Janusz Cieszyński and Jan Kanthak.
The Pegasus Commission of Inquiry will investigate issues related to the use and abuse of Pegasus software, which is an electronic surveillance tool developed by the Israeli company NSO Group. In addition to examining the responsibility of specific individuals, investigators will try to answer the question of whether and how the software was legally purchased and used by government security agencies or other state bodies.
It is also clear that the commission will confirm that Pegasus was used to monitor specific groups or individuals, such as journalists, human rights activists and opposition politicians.
As Tomasz Siemoniak said on Friday, there were significantly more people eavesdropping using Pegasus during the PiS government than the cases disclosed so far. “The investigative commission will be an important partner in what to do in the legal sense, how to explain this case, settle it and provide the public with reliable information. The prosecutor’s office will also be an important partner,” he said.
