17-year-old hockey player Connor Bedard equaled Pats Jordan Eberle’s Canadian record for most accurate hits at the World Junior Cup with 14 goals.
The striker scored two goals and provided four assists against Austria to help his side win 11-0 and progress to the quarter-finals.
“I don’t look at stats much, but it’s pretty cool to tie Eberle’s record because we both played for the Regina Pats. I’m just one of the players on the team and I try to contribute to the team’s victories.” Bedard said, according to the AP news agency.
The young Canadian is the most productive player in the tournament, having scored 14 points (6+8) in three games. According to media reports, the expected future draft unit has already achieved a total of 27 points at the World Junior Championships. Only four points separate him from Eric Lindros, who is the statistics leader of the 19-time champion in this category.
