Already in the 2nd minute, Rodák had to box a dangerous cross from the wing, which was directed to the tower by the home striker Šeška. For long minutes, however, it was a unique offensive action. Both teams built their game on an attentive defense and the tactical fight initially did not bring excitement in front of the gates. In the 18th minute after Schranz’s foul, the Slovenians had the opportunity to open the score from a direct kick from a good distance from behind the penalty area, but Lovrič aimed high above. Soon, the Slovaks could answer after the action of Kuck with Lobotek, but Boženík did not get to the end. 29 minutes into the match Lobotka almost managed to score another goal for Kuck, coming from the right, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors’ keeper. Three minutes later, the Slovenian goalkeeper was helpless, when after a sharp Weiss center he overcame him with a placed header Boženík – 0: 1. The match gained degrees after a sleepy start. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 37 minutes, Schranz broke through the center and found himself alone with the keeper. The Slovaks were lucky in the 40th minute, when Mlakar in the tutovka in front of an empty goal tangled the ball between his legs. The locals’ efforts to settle were finally a success before they left for the locker room. Stojanovič deftly ran behind the back of the defense and overcame Rodák – 1: 1. In the end, he tried the attention of the Slovak goalkeeper Štulac with a shot from 25 meters.
At the beginning of the second act, he was able to restore the lead of Kuck, who sounded the crossbar with his head after Hamšík’s corner kick. At the other end of the field, Stojanovič missed the ball in a good position. The Slovaks tried to be active in the forward direction, but several promising actions after easy losses of the opponent’s ball did not reach the end. With 67 minutes played, Škriniar nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. The home side put themselves ahead 1 – 0 after 74 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from Lovričov, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. Six minutes later he got a lot of space in front of the penalty area Iličič, but fortunately for the guests he sent his teammate a long ball and the chance was not there. Šporar’s “buttocks” head did not catch through Šatka and at the opposite end Maka’s shot, which did not hit the ball and aimed only at Oblak’s hands. Neither team was in unnecessary risk with the increasing end of the match, the draw of both still holds the game for promotion to the World Championships in Qatar.
