WB ratified loans to Argentina for 2,066 million dollars

The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, held on March 25, a videoconference with the head of the World Bank (WB), David Malpass, in which they discussed the social and economic situation, and the investment portfolio that the agency has in the Argentina. The institution confirmed that it will disburse 2,066 million dollars.

Malpass highlighted the importance of “complementing macroeconomic stability measures with actions in support of private sector investment” and reaffirmed the support of the World Bank through “loan programs focused on supporting the poorest and most vulnerable and reversing the increase in poverty”.

Fernández assured that Argentina will honor its debts while reminding that while he served as Chief of Cabinet, between 2003 and 2008, the country had a fiscal surplus.

The president appreciated the agency’s support to advance in the reconstruction of the country with the priority placed on increasing and diversifying exports together with the objectives of reducing poverty and serving the most vulnerable, gender equality and climate change.

Malpass emphasized the importance of “complementing macroeconomic stability measures with actions to support private sector investment, including policies that facilitate companies’ access to credit.”

Currently, Argentina has a portfolio of 26 World Bank loans for a total amount of 6.149 million dollars, of which 2.066 million dollars remain to be disbursed.
