Wayan Mirna Salihin Murder Case: Jessica Wongso’s Trial and Documentary Film

Homicides Wayan Mirna Salihin performed by Jessica Kumala Wongso is now emerging again. The murder occurred in 2016 and caught public attention.

Mirna is known to have died after allegedly drinking coffee that Jessica bought. The coffee contained cyanide which caused Mirna’s death.

Jessica was then named a suspect. He underwent trial at the Central Jakarta District Court until he was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Seven years later Mirna’s murder case surfaced through a documentary film. The film was also in the spotlight after it contained a scene where Jessica was forbidden to be interviewed.

In one of the scenes seen Jessica Wongso had provided information regarding the case of Mirna’s death. However, while giving the statement, a man’s voice was heard interrupting Jessica’s explanation. It is not yet known when the interview was taken. However, since that interview, the documentary filmmaker said he was not allowed to interview Jessica again.

Explanation of Pondok Bambu Chief of Staff

Jessica is known to be undergoing detention at the Class II A Pondok Bambu Prison. Chief of Staff Ade Agustina then spoke out about the scene where Jessica was cut during an interview.

“Because I wasn’t working at Pondok Bambu Prison at the time of the video recording or film. So I need to look at the document first. I can’t provide any other comments yet,” said Ade when contacted, Friday (29/9/2023).

Ade also answered the question of permission to conduct interviews for prisoners at Pondok Bambu Prison, including Jessica Wongso. According to him, interviews can be carried out during connection with the coaching program.

“Interviews may be related to and support the substance of the coaching program because that is what is being implemented,” he said.
