With this insurance which will soon be launched, Wave Côte d’Ivoire intends to offer access to health and health insurance policies. Distributors of mobile money products, sub-distributors and their families will be able to benefit from it.
The enrollment operation, which started a few days ago, concerns a network of approximately 15,000 agents. A real opportunity when you know that the insurance penetration rate in Côte d’Ivoire does not exceed 10%.
“We are in business with them and we think it is important to be able to touch this social component. These people have families and need to be insured to be able to pay their medical expenses. This will be 70% coverage and for which the premium is partially borne by Wave. Enrollment is underway at the moment and Wave has decided to cover the membership fees of the first 3,000 subscribers,” revealed Stéphane Hié Néa, head of public policy.

With a view to contributing to financial inclusion in Côte d’Ivoire, more than 6 billion CFA francs in commissions have been paid to distribution network partners for the Wave service during the four years of activity in the country. . Reducing the cost of e-money by 75%.
Through the National Financial Inclusion Strategy 2019-2024, the government’s objective is to increase the financial inclusion rate to 60% by 2024, against 40% in 2017, through specific actions in the banking sectors, microfinance and mobile money.
