Frankfurt/Main – Incumbent Hans-Joachim Watzke is the only candidate to stand in the election of the new chairman of the supervisory board of the German Football League at the general assembly on August 17.

The DFL announced this after the submission deadline for nominations had expired. The managing director of the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund had already taken over the position as first deputy spokesman of the DFL executive committee from Peter Peters at the beginning of February.

At the event in Dortmund, the representatives of the 36 professional clubs elect a nine-member executive committee, in which Donata Hopfen, as chairwoman of the DFL management board, and an authorized officer of DFL GmbH have their permanent seat. In addition to Watzke, Oliver Leki (SC Freiburg), Jan-Christian Dreesen (Bayern Munich), Axel Hellmann (Eintracht Frankfurt), Steffen Schneekloth (Holstein Kiel), Oke Göttlich (FC St. Pauli) and Holger Schwiewagner ( SpVgg Greuther Furth). Elections for the other members of the Supervisory Board and the Licensing Committee are also pending.
