Water Shortage Threatens Restaurant Closure in Nuevo León, Mexico: A Call to Prepare with Water Tanks and Pumps

Daniel García Rosales, president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) in Nuevo León, warned that due to the problem of water shortage – which is already beginning to be seen – there will be restaurants that will be closed for certain days.

And that is why months before they were reminding restaurateurs to prepare themselves with water tanks and water pumps, especially those who did not make it last year, he indicated.

“We already knew that a situation like this was going to happen, hence the importance of having our complete equipment so that diners do not interrupt their stay with us,” he said.

The manager reiterated that these equipment are necessary since these businesses cannot operate without the vital liquid.

García added that now, due to the water problem, water tanks and water pumps are more urgently needed, but unfortunately both equipment is beginning to increase in price and become scarce.

In the state there are around 22 thousand restaurant establishments, and despite the expansion of the economy of Nuevo León and the activity of businesses and companies, the sector has not exceeded that figure due to the complexity of opening new restaurants due to the lack of workforce and even existing businesses continue to struggle greatly to have the right number of staff for the operation.
