Weather and river
The week starts soft and dry. From Wednesday evening, precipitation and wind are expected from storm Kirk, which reaches the Meuse and Rhine catchments from France. The storm will be over on Friday and it will be drier but also cool.
The Rhine is now stable at about 9.50m above NAP at Lobith. The river water level will rise. The Rhine will rise to about 12m in the coming weekend. A wave in the discharge is also expected on the Meuse, from 200 to about 800 m³/s. These would be the first waves of this high water season. If the wind from the sea picks up at the same time, it can push up the Lek and Merwede.
