The water level at the Dresden gauge has been falling since Tuesday morning. Normal is two meters below the Augustus Bridge, during the flood of the century in 2002 it was 9.40 meters. After persistent rainfall, the river had steadily filled up over the past weekend, especially in its Czech catchment area. Alert level 1 was declared in Dresden on Monday. In some places it has burst its banks, according to the city administration there are still restrictions on some sections of the Elbe Cycle Path.
