Water leaks in Piazza della Libertà: technicians in the crosshairs

Water infiltrations into the rooms located below Freedom Squareuntil a month ago, did not exist for the Common. Who changed his mind only after the intervention of President of the Region Vincenzo De Lucawho promised his interest, after meeting the managers of the premises. For the municipal administration and its technical officials, in fact, there was no loss and the alarm had been amplified by the mass media for no reason. This was the official version of the Municipality, later denied in the facts, taking into account that on Monday morning the same Authority workers cordoned off the area, of approximately 100 square metres, where a new waterproofing will be carried out, due to water leaks in a room in the basement.

The about-face

In short, in a short time, there was a real about-face on the part of the municipal administration. A sudden change of direction and, above all, of opinion, which can only be justified by virtue of the governor’s interest. Because the municipal technicians themselves denied the existence of the problems, so much so that the person in charge of the territorial safety service, consulted by the Transparency commissionchaired by Antonio Cammarotahad highlighted how “the structure of the square has technical joints that constitute a completely ordinary element in a construction” and, in particular, as if there were no “no worrying lesions, from a static point of view”.
