Recently, a communication meeting was organized at the site of the Moulay Abderrahmane Dam in the province of Essaouira on “Water Governance, in order to mobilize water resources and ensure water security”, with the participation of all concerned parties.
The aim of this meeting, which was organized by the prefecture of the province in partnership with the Water Basin Agency of Tensift, and witnessed the participation of the concerned heads of regional and regional departments, elected and active members of civil society, to exchange views, especially on innovative solutions that ensure continuous supply and meet the needs of the population of this vital material. , which constitutes an essential element in the development of economic activities (agriculture, industry, tourism…).
The governor of the region, Adel Al-Maliki, stressed, in a word on the occasion, the importance of water and its strategic position for all sectors, especially since the matter is one of the main pillars of economic and social development that the Kingdom knows.
Al-Maliki touched on the exceptional climatic situation experienced by Morocco, in general, and the Essaouira region, in particular, which has been exacerbated in recent years due to the recorded deficit in precipitation, explaining that the regional authorities are working at all levels to address the problem of water in all its dimensions related to production, exploitation and management.
He stressed the importance of sensitization and collective awareness regarding managing water scarcity and rationalizing its consumption, calling on all concerned partners to accelerate the activation of various water management programs, and to encourage investments to provide sustainable solutions in the field of water production, distribution and utilization, and to enable the province of Essaouira to face scarcity in this article. vitality, and ensuring water security.
