Water, endless waste: in Salerno 61% is lost in the network

A Salerno out of 603 litres of water per capita introduced per day into the network for civil use, 370 litres are lost due to leaks, that is to say 61.4%. Therefore, only 233 litres reach the end user, because the rest is lost along the water network. This is the shocking data that emerges from a report byCigia Research Office of Mestre. Salerno, in the ranking of Italian provincial capital cities, is in 13th place and, therefore, in the top 20 of cities where water dispersion is most accentuated.

The other provinces

The data for Salerno has worsened in Campania only from that of Caserta (358 litres of water wasted per capita per day, equal to 61.8% of the total) while the situation is better than that of the city of Arechi in Benevento (271 litres per capita lost, equal to 55.9%), Avellino (246 litres per capita for a waste of 54.8%) and Napoli (111 litres per capita wasted equal to 33.3%). A phenomenon that particularly involves the entire Noon and which is caused, as the Mestre association explains, above all by breakages in the pipes, the advanced age of the systems, administrative aspects due to errors in measuring the meters and unauthorized uses, such as illegal connections.
