The collectives “Bassines, no thank you!”, “The “Earth Uprisings” and other trade union or environmental organizations are launching the water convoy from Friday from Lezay, in Deux-Sèvres. A march which will notably stop at Coussay-les-Bois in Vienne.
THE Earth Uprisings had withdrawn from the water convoy while awaiting the decision of the Council of State. But the cancellation of the procedure for dissolving the movement allows them to come and take part in the convoy for water in complete legality. They will therefore be present on Friday in Lezay alongside the collective Basins, no, thank you!from Peasant Confederation and other environmental organizations. Protesters who have already registered in large numbers will travel by bicycle or tractor.
This convoy follows the demonstration of March 25 in Sainte-Soline against the mega-basins under construction and those planned for the following years. The convoy wants to go “demand accounts” from the Loire-Bretagne water agency in Beaugency, near Orléans, the end of the convoy.

If the demonstration is authorized for the moment, its departure initially planned for Sainte-Soline has been prohibited by the prefecture of Deux-Sèvres. But after discussions between the prefecture and the organizers, the complete route has been validated and will pass through Coussay-les-Bois in Vienne. This small town has been fighting for months against the project of bull farms, a huge breeding of 1,200 animals. The inhabitants and the elected officials have multiplied the legal actions and the demonstrations, for the moment in vain.
According to opponents of the project, the bull farm presents major environmental risks.
In Vienne, the prefecture announced that it was deploying a convoy surveillance device using “drones and aircraft”. It also indicates in a press release the deployment of security forces and relief resources to “secure the entire procession and guarantee the best traffic conditions for motorists”.

While waiting to pass through Vienne, it is in Deux-Sèvres that the convoy is preparing. The small town of Lezay, which will be the start of the march, is waiting to see how things will go.
