Until mid-October, nine artists will be designing the facades and the surrounding area of the former cinema using different techniques. The artistic spectrum ranges from painting, drawing, textiles to video projection and sound design, as Michaela Schwarzmann, project coordinator, announced. Some projects have already been implemented on the facade since July.
Start on Saturday, September 14th
On Saturday, September 14th, at 8 p.m., the projection by Gerhard Hagen from Forchheim will start on the front of the building. The film will run in a continuous loop every evening until September 29th. The sound for the film will be made available via QR code.
Gerhard Hagen’s theme is water. Forchheim is located on the Regnitz, the Main-Danube Canal and the Wiesent. These rivers were crucial for the development of Forchheim. His personal connection to Forchheim and its rivers: He was born here and, after a long absence, moved back to his parents’ house, which is located in the triangle of Regnitz-Altwasser, Wiesent and the canal.
Connecting the past and present
He shows water as a light show in strong, striking colors to the outside, in a former cinema. Films used to be shown inside the Luli cinema, Gerhard Hagen takes this up and shows a film outside. In doing so, he connects the cinema’s past with the present. More information at luli-art.com.
