The movie Fifty Shades of Gray caught the attention of the audience. In fact, 44% of women in an American poll said that they would rather watch this erotic image than experience real sex. Check out other highlights from the movie in Stories from the Square.
The main character of the film, Jamie Dornan, diligently prepared for the role. Before filming, he visited sadomasochistic orgies to better understand the relationship between a dominant and a submissive. At the same time, he also exercised three times a day to have a perfect figure. Despite becoming the idol of millions of women, he stated that he does not like his body and even hates suits. At the same time, the perfectly developed body and suits are typical for Christian Grey.
The shooting itself was probably the most difficult for actress Dakota Johnson, who managed all but one of the erotic scenes without an understudy. The stand-in stepped in for her only in the final whipping scene so that the actress wouldn’t get hurt and the whip wouldn’t leave marks on her body. Although Johnson made it through the shoot, she was uncomfortable being naked and tied to a bed in front of the entire crew. But she appreciated Dornan, who always thoughtfully covered her with a blanket after the shot.
Even the film itself faced a number of obstacles. In Vietnamese cinemas, all erotic scenes disappeared from it and only fleeting kisses remained. In Zimbabwe, they heavily censored the film, so that the distributor preferred to pull it from the cinema. In Kenya and Malaysia, to be sure, they banned it outright because, according to them, it showed women as sex slaves.
